False Friend

Vik – vocals / guitar
Phil – guitar
Stefan – bass
Steffen – drums

After Vik, Phil, Maggie and Steffen made ska and punk with german lyrics for a short period of time and played almost every club in East-Berlin, they had to take an involuntarily break for a whole year. But a new beginning had to be made with a new bass player, because Maggie didn't agree with the new way of making music. The rest is history... Steffen knew Stefan, one call and one week later and the new man was found. Stefan brought new influences and was very quickly integrated in the band. After the first songs were written they noticed that the kind of music they made with the new member was different than before. The band and the music had changed and a new name had to be chosen. It took a long time to find one, but they didn't took that as seriously as many people might think. FALSE FRIEND was a funny name, that's all!

Last year they supported - even without releasing a demo - The Lawrence Arms, Streetlight Manifesto, The Crushing Caspars (old-school-HC from germany) and the sts-band M-Sixteen on very scene-relevant stages like Wild At Heart, Magnet-Club and even the Kato!

The debut-ep will be called Radio One and will be released in august '06. It was recorded over the course of many sessions in Berlin. Sure, punkrock will not be re-invented with this ep, but it is a clear statement against the new pop-punk-wave. They renounce happy-bubblegum-melodies and jump-parts. Instead their music combines high speed with melodic parts, constantly pushing forward. That's the False Friend punkrock-philosophy! Not one of them despises that pop-punk-thing, but their musical roots definitly lie in hard, fast and technical punkrock. You could say that the style of False Friend is a mixture of Lagwagon, Good Riddance and Belvedere. But others should judge this.

The band is currently working on new material which is going to sound different and better than before. But that's music of the future, stay tuned for Radio One!

False Friend - if we're too fast, you're too slow!
